Departure from set places and continue along the motorway to Verona, Brescia, Piacenza ... Stop along the way. 11:00 / 11:30 the AC arrival in Genoa. The Aquarium is home to many species such as sharks, penguins, turtles, dolphins in environments that reproduce the habitat of the Mediterranean Sea and Oceans. Free lunch (inside the building there is' a great self-service). In the afternoon meeting with a guide and sightseeing tour of the city. Among the most interesting things to see there: the Cathedral, the House of Christopher Columbus, the first Bank of Italy, the palaces of the Doria family ... out in the late afternoon for the return trip; stops along the way and arriving in the evening at your destination.



CURIOSITY on the aquarium


It is the Aquarium which is the largest variety of ecosystems in Europe and is one of the main Italian cultural attractions. E 'was built to a design by architect Renzo Piano on the occasion of Expo '92, the celebration of the fifth centenary of the discovery of the New World by Christopher Columbus.

Thanks to its 71 tanks offers visitors the chance to live an adventure in the seas and in aquatic environments most fascinating in the world: from the depths of the Mediterranean in Laguna del Madagascar, from coral reefs to the icy Antarctic waters, from the mangrove forests of the jungle hummingbirds. An exhibition that allows you to get to know the different aquatic environments, to learn to love and respect them.

The Aquarium of Genoa has ushered in a new tank dedicated to the Piranha. The new exhibition area of fresh water is an oxbow lake of the Amazon basin, which is a stretch of forest flooded by the river where the peaceful waters flow between the trunks and roots of trees.

Guests of the new tank, in addition to approximately 300 juveniles of Piranha (Pygocentrus nattereri) coming from the aquarium Basel, thanks to the network of exchanges between accredited facilities in order to avoid or reduce the levy in nature, there are also some cleaner fish and aquatic plants of different species.

Another recent addition of Aquarius are the caimans guests to an exhibition that plays "Rivers of the Amazon." The new tank is a trait of the many rivers that run through the Amazon with rocks, tree trunks, aquatic and terrestrial plants and several species of tropical fish. It was designed and built by aquariological and technical staff of the Aquarium of Genoa. Starring the tank are specimens of Cuvier's dwarf caiman (Paleosuchus palpebrosus) that come from the zoo in Cologne. The dwarf caiman is the smallest species of crocodile in the world: it reaches a maximum length of 1.7 meters for males and for females 1.2 meters and a weight of about 15 kilograms.
